Is a building permit required to construct a terrace?
Not always. In Belgium, a terrace of less than 80 m² on the ground, uncovered, less than 1.5 m from ground level, is generally exempt from a permit. Beyond that, or if the terrace is covered, elevated, or attached to an extension, a municipal authorization may be required. We help you check local obligations and submit a declaration or building permit if necessary, with the support of our partner architects.
What maintenance is required based on the material?
- Wood: annual cleaning, treatment every 2 to 3 years.
- Composite: simple cleaning with water, very little maintenance.
- Tiles: cleaning with soapy water, joints to monitor.
