Why choose Avenir Renovations?
What is a shutter?
The shutter is a louvered or fixed shutter, allowing air circulation and partial light, while blocking the view or protecting the window from the sun.
It can be:
- Hinged: mounted on hinges like a traditional shutter
- Sliding: wall-mounted for a contemporary look
- Folding (accordion shutter): for bay windows or narrow windows
- Fixed or removable, depending on the intended use (shading, ventilation, security)

Advantages of shutters
Shutters provide natural ventilation, protect from the sun, enhance security, and adapt to all styles, combining comfort, aesthetics, and functionality in daily life.
Thanks to the slatted design, the shutter allows for a constant flow of air, even when closed. This limits humidity and promotes coolness in summer while maintaining security.
It offers an effective barrier against direct sunlight, while allowing dappled light to enter. Ideal for south or west-facing rooms.
A shutter locked from the inside or equipped with reinforced latches can contribute to protection against intrusions, especially on the ground floor or on less visible facades.
Available in different materials, colors, and installation types, the shutter adapts to all facade styles. It is particularly recommended for housing in urban areas, collective buildings or houses exposed to wind or sun.
Price of shutters in Belgium

What uses for installing a shutter?
- Bedroom or bathroom windows
- Kitchen or laundry requiring permanent ventilation
- Upper floor apartments or townhouses
- Buildings subject to strict architectural or urban planning regulations
- Replacing solid shutters with a lighter and airier solution
The different types of shutters
There are several types of shutters, each suited to specific technical constraints, the aesthetics of the facade, and the desired use. Here are the main variants:
Hinged shutter
The most common. It opens like a traditional shutter, with one or two panels mounted on hinges. It is a classic, reliable, and easy-to-install solution, particularly suited for individual houses and traditional facades.
Sliding shutter
Mounted on a rail, the sliding shutter glides along the facade. It is ideal for modern buildings, collective housing, or when it is not possible to open the panels outward (lack of clearance, balcony, public road...).
Accordion shutter (or folding)
It folds in several sections and stores compactly to the side. Recommended for narrow openings or in renovation on buildings with constrained architecture, it offers great ease of use on high or hard-to-reach windows.
Fixed shutter
Permanently installed in front of an opening or wall, it is used as a ventilation facade or as a sunshade. It is not manipulated, but serves an aesthetic and functional role.
Each type of shutter is available in aluminum or PVC, depending on your design, durability, and budget preferences.
Shutters by material type
The choice of material is a key criterion to ensure both durability, aesthetics, and ease of maintenance of your shutters. At Avenir Rénovations Belgium, we offer two main families of materials, each meeting specific needs:
Aluminum shutter
Aluminum is a highly resistant material, perfectly suited to Belgian weather conditions (rain, frost, UV). It does not rust, does not deform, and offers excellent longevity. Lightweight and robust, it allows for the manufacture of thin, stylish, and durable shutters, available in various RAL colors with or without textured finish. Aluminum is ideal for modern facades or projects requiring low maintenance.
PVC shutter
PVC is a more economical solution, offering good resistance to moisture and adequate thermal insulation. Easy to maintain and lightweight, it is perfectly suited for standard housing, particularly for bedroom or bathroom windows. PVC shutters are available in several colors (white, gray, beige…) and also come in slatted, solid, or semi-slatted versions.
Each material has its advantages. Our technicians will guide you during the technical visit based on your aesthetic, technical, and budgetary constraints.
Finishes and customization
Our shutters are custom-made, with aesthetic and technical options tailored to your needs:
- Various RAL colors: white, anthracite gray, ivory, brown, wood tones…
- Blade type: slatted, adjustable, fixed
