Why replace your windows?

Changing the frames is not just aesthetic. It has a direct impact on the thermal and acoustic performance of the home. It is also an effective way to:

• Reduce heating consumption
• Limit drafts and heat loss
• Improve comfort in summer and winter
• Reduce noise disturbances
• Increase the value of the property

And above all, this work qualifies for cumulative regional grants, as well as a reduced VAT rate.

Eligible work

Regional aid covers the replacement of:

• Old windows with high-performance new frames
• Single or old double glazing with super-insulating glazing
• Glazed exterior doors in certain cases
• Glass only (glazing), under conditions

Wood, PVC, or aluminum frames are all accepted, provided they meet the maximum thermal transmission values (Uw and Ug).

Grants for windows and frames in Wallonia

General conditions

• The home must be over 15 years old
• The installation must be carried out by a contractor registered with the BCE
• The housing audit is mandatory
• The frames and glazing must meet the thermal performance criteria

Technical criteria

• Uw (complete window) ≤ 1.50 W/m²K
• Ug (glazing only) ≤ 1.10 W/m²K
• Installation with thermal bridge break
• Use of materials compliant with PEB standards

The grants are calculated per square meter of glazing replaced, allowing for precise calculation of aid based on the number of windows and their area.

Grants for frames in Brussels

General conditions (RENOLUTION)

• The building must be over 10 years old
• The work must be carried out by an approved company
• The thermal performance Uw and Ug must be certified
• The grant application must be submitted via IRISbox before the work

RENOLUTION amounts (2025)

The exact amount depends on:

• The household income
• The type of beneficiary (occupant, landlord, co-ownership...)
• The neighborhood (areas with specific bonuses)

Technical requirements

• Uw ≤ 1.50 W/m²K (complete window)
• Ug ≤ 1.10 W/m²K (glazing only)
• Enhanced airtightness
• Installation in accordance with industry standards (air tightness, sealing)

The aids are valid for both individual homes and co-ownerships.

Reduced VAT at 6%

In addition to the grants, window replacement work in a home over 10 years old benefits from a reduced VAT rate of 6%, provided that:

• The work is carried out by a registered company
• The home is primarily used for residence
• The client is a private individual not subject to VAT

This reduced rate applies:

• On materials
• On labor
• On travel expenses

Loans and financing

In Wallonia

• Rénopack: zero-interest loan after housing audit, cumulative with grants
• Rénoprêt: zero-interest loan, no prior audit required

These two schemes allow for financing windows while recovering the aids after the work.

In Brussels

• ECORENO Credit: financing up to 60,000 € at preferential rates (from 1.5%), cumulative with RENOLUTION grants
