Procedures in Wallonia: steps to follow

1. Check that your housing is eligible

First and foremost, ensure that the building meets the conditions for accessing housing grants:

• Be located in Wallonia (excluding the German-speaking Community)
• Have been built more than 15 years ago
• Be intended for housing for at least 50% of its area
• Be occupied or made available in accordance with the conditions set by the Region (primary residence, rental, occupation by a relative...)

2. Have a housing audit conducted (often mandatory)

To unlock most grants in Wallonia, a housing audit conducted by an accredited auditor is essential. This audit allows:

• To assess the energy performance of the housing
• To propose a prioritized renovation plan
• To identify the works eligible for aid

The auditor then sends an audit report to the Region, which initiates the process.

Exception: for works limited to roof insulation or roofing, the audit is not mandatory.

3. Submit your "audit" grant application

You must submit your audit grant application within 8 months of receiving the report. This can be done via:

Once validated, the housing audit grant is paid quickly, even if the works have not yet started.

4. Start the works after validation

Attention: the works must comply with the technical criteria specified in the report (R values, certifications, types of materials...).

5. Submit your "works" grant application

As soon as the works are completed, you must:

• Fill out a grant application form
• Attach all detailed invoices, proof of payment, and technical annexes
• Send the file within the imposed deadlines (before September 30, 2026, for the current regime)

A receipt will be sent to you, and the Region has several weeks to validate and pay the amounts.

The Brussels Region centralizes all procedures on the IRISbox platform. By creating a personal account or one in the name of a co-ownership, you gain access to:

• File tracking

3. Prepare your application file

Before submitting your application, gather:

• The signed quote from the company
• The technical sheets of the materials or equipment
• A plan of the housing or a diagram of the intervention
• The occupancy or ownership certificate

Once completed, the file is submitted for verification. In case of non-compliance, you have 60 days to correct the errors.

4. Start the works

The works can begin once the application is sent. Ensure compliance with the execution deadlines, technical standards, and the supporting documents required at the end of the project.

5. Send documents after works

At the end of the project, you must submit:
